Weekend Coffee Share; My Tiny Garden

Weekend Coffee share is a time for us to take a break out of our busy lives and enjoy some time catching up with friends (old and new). Please grab a cup of coffee or tea and share with us!

Welcome and how are you today? I am having a nice cup of morning coffee with my oatmeal and english muffin with jam. I have bananas too, would you like to join me as we finish out this weekend and this month? Yesterday was my son’s birthday, and wish I could have been in Arizona to bake him a cake! That would have been divine but it was not in the cards and with all that is going on totally understandable. I miss him very much. I also miss his wife and 2 children too, so much my heart aches but we stay in touch as much as possible. How’s your coffee? or would you rather have some tea?

Before I get into my tiny garden photos my husband and I had an interesting conversation last evening. He got a call from a very good friend of his in Arizona and they asked him to ask me if I would be interested in living on 37 acres in Williams, Arizona? He explained that they were looking for themselves when they realized this is also horse property and wondered if I wanted to have a horse ranch there! WAIT, WHAT? I told my husband YES! This is just all thoughts from our friends, but they are thinking of purchasing the land. It would be 2 1/2 hours from my family there, much closer than where I am at here and the weather there is wonderful because it is higher elevation. It is only 35 miles from Flagstaff, Arizona which is a bigger city and I could find work there. Oh my, this is only the first conversation but if it were to come to fruition, it would be a dream come true. Enough land that I would have my own trails to ride on with my horses!! I just had to share, it may not happen. Maybe talking about it will get the ball rolling in that direction. Maybe?

On to my teeny tiny garden. But this tiny garden sure brings me big smiles! I believe I will get a few tomatoes and bell peppers. So far so good!

I will be doing some gardening work this afternoon and prune my roses and spray them for aphids. I use a mixture of a couple of drops of dawn soap in a spray bottle with water. It doesn’t hurt the plants but really gets rid of those darn bugs. We have an over abundance of earwigs this year, and have seen a fair amount of lizards which are eating those bugs. The roses continue to bloom and I believe once I prune them I will get some new growth with more blooms in the coming months!

My explanation of the above photo is enough. I will say though that when I placed the plants on her patio table she told me she would probably kill them. I almost said, well at least you have a photo of them to enjoy! Hehe, these are rather hard to kill, and so hopefully she will have some success with them. If not, its all okay. She is doing really good, and I am so excited to hear where her next assignment will be. She will be moving at the end of this year.

My son sent this and he set one of the brothers in a little sit up chair they bought the baby. I thought it was adorable and he said he sat there for a few minutes! Silly Kitty!

Those brothers are just the best cats and to me very comical. I know I have shared some really wonderful photos of them, sleeping together is just so cute. When he shared this photo it made me laugh, its just too funny! He looks rather content even though he did not stay long in there, he is so mellow! I really enjoyed sharing coffee with you today. I really can’t believe it will be June tomorrow. The time sure flies, and I am looking forward to the summer but praying we don’t get too much heat. It can get pretty darn hot, but I think we will be okay until July. Have a great week!

My Weekly Smile; Feb. 5, 2020

What makes you smile? I so enjoy sharing and I have to thank Trent who hosts the Weekly Smile so we have a place to meet and share!

Proud mama weekend! I had the best weekend this last weekend being able to see my daughter be promoted to Major in the Air Force. How she has excelled and her dedication to serving this great country is humbling and I admire her determination and fortitude. I know I shared last week but the cup runneth over with gratefulness as I sit here thinking about this last week. As I share we have a lot happening as we have a planned vacation with her to Hawaii next week! (So EXCITED!) Lots to smile about! I’m smiling from ear to ear! 😀

Major Greener with her father. Smiling big, so very proud!

We had a nice time up in Orcutt, CA which is next to Vandenberg AFB. We explored a bit and I took a selfie of my family, minus my daughter who had unfortunately got a 24hr flu bug before she was promoted. She was home resting and of course made it to the ceremony but it was a bit stressful for her but it all worked out and she is thankfully feeling much better. We had great weather while there and thought I would share that photo too!

Me, hubby and brother!

As we headed into this week we had really strong winds. These winds can be so bad, up to 25 mile gusts and it just makes being outside miserable. They were cold winds as well, and so I really missed riding this week. It is calm outside today so I think I will be able to ride. I took the next photo of my trail ride on Sunday afternoon as it was not windy and we made it back in time for me to see my ponies. My obsession with them will never cease! They are my therapy, my muse and what helps keep me smiling! 😀

Beautiful day with my horses. Zack is here too walking by my side! I’m smiling!

Thank you for visiting my smile for this week. Can you believe its February? I probably will say this every month as these months just tick by. Haha, time just flies but I have to say that this blog has helped me slow down and enjoy each week. It makes me think back and be more observant which makes me appreciate each day. What makes you smile? Anything happening in your neck of the woods?

Thankful Proud Mom,

Weekend Coffee Share; Nov. 16, 2019

Weekend Coffee share is a time for us to take a break out of our busy lives and enjoy some time catching up with friends (old and new)! Please grab a cup of coffee or tea and share with us! What’s been going on in your life? any weekend plans?

I can’t believe half of November has gone and Thanksgiving is right around the corner! I am really excited though because we leave Monday for Arizona to help my son and family move to a new place. They decided to move from the house they were renting (they raised the lease payment) and they found a place that will save them money. It’s a really nice town home and I can’t wait to see it and help them with this move! I am so excited not only to see them and give my grand daughter a GIANT HUG, but to have this time off from work! Oh forgive me, did you get a cup of coffee? maybe tea or OJ? I am drinking a nice strong cup of Joe because it is cold. You will laugh for those who live where it freezes, it was a chilly 48 degrees this morning. Us here in CA, anything under 50 and we shiver. It can get down in the 30’s here which is bone chilling. We are just not use to the cold weather. Haha! 😀

I know millions of women get their nails done but for me this is a new thing that I decided to spend money and treat myself. I would rather spend the money on my horses, but my daughter is helping me feel more girly and I actually LOVE having them look nice. I am in the festive spirit with the snowman! I need all the Christmas spirit I can muster!

My daughter actually found the nail salon and the employees there are so sweet and the lady that did my nails this time was so proud of her work she said she wanted a photo. So after she took a photo for herself I had her take a photo with my phone too. I thought why not share! Haha, I do not know how long I will keep up the pretty nails, definitely through the holidays and maybe longer? We will see if I stay motivated to go and get them done and spend that money that could go to buying a bag of grain. It’s all what we think is important right? Beautifying myself hasn’t been my strong suite. I have makeup I hardly use and to be honest, I don’t really know how to apply very well. I try sometimes, but mostly no makeup. I try to keep up with lipstick, and that’s tough to do for me as well. I’m not much of a lady. My poor hubby, he has to put up with a drab cowgirl. But she has pretty nails now! 😀

This photo was taken by my pony sister (a good friend) at the stables on our ride last weekend. I don’t have many of me riding with my ponies, this is what I will do this weekend! Thank you Jane! I am so excited I can share my favorite hobby!

I will be heading to the stables soon and will be riding on the trails. I’m thankful for this photo to share with ya’ll as this is Norco and our trail sidewalks. Our ponies are very trail savvy as there are dogs that run up to the fence and all sorts of things that can spook them. They have seen just about everything, and do not spook often, thankfully. It’s all about time in the saddle. I call it TITS – yup, you just said it! Haha, Time In The Saddle is so important as every day you ride you take the unusual and make it usual, anything and everything you do in repetition helps you and your horse gain confidence. I am not going to explain all the training here on this blog that goes into making a strong, stable trail horse but that tip, TITS is part of making a GREAT trail pony. I also like this saying, KISS – Keep It Simple Stupid! It helps in training, trouble shooting problems as often the most simple thing is the problem. I guess I like acronyms, LOL! 😀 😀 😀

Miss Chloe looking beautiful today! Love her color as it darkens in the winter time. I just LOVE HER!!

As I head into this weekend I will be preparing my horses for this next week ahead. I will buy some shavings so that their stalls will stay nicely bedded and make baggies full of grain and supplements for my girlfriend to feed each day I am gone. I know they will be well taken care of and I won’t worry about them.

I enjoyed sharing my morning with you all. I hope you all will have a wonderful weekend. I know some of my friends are traveling home this weekend, safe travels Maria! I will be thinking of this huge move back home. I know many of you are trying to stay warm as I saw a blanket of cold weather across the US. I know my family will be doing family things and my sister’s quilt and love doing crafts. Thinking of you all as I finish my cup of coffee and my breakfast here in Norco. What are your plans this weekend? I thank you for stopping by and would love to hear your plans or maybe you will just stay in and enjoy some R&R.

Happy Cowgirl,

~Diana
