Weekend Birthday FUN!

My Birthday cake made by my good friend Colleen! She is a friend at our barn and loves to make the most delicious birthday cakes!

My birthday was October 21st and I have to say I had a ton of fun this birthday weekend. Colleen at the stables has been making cakes for each of us and we have had some fine cakes as she always changes it up and makes something entirely different each time. This cake was featured on Facebook called Lemon Blueberry Cheesecake Cake including the recipe and Colleen asked me if I’d like this cake for my birthday. YES! I said, if you are up for it as I knew it would be a bit complicated. Colleen said it was a challenge with a cake layer top and bottom, and a blueberry cream cheese filling. The cream cheese icing was lemon cream cheese and oh my, this was SO DELICIOUS! ❤

This was one of the best cakes I’ve tasted in awhile. LOVE homemade cakes!
I think my lens was dirty. I took this photo out because there is a distortion in it, but I decided to put it back in just because I think its fun to share even though its not perfect. Nothing is ever perfect right?
Getting ready to eat cake! Thank you all ladies, making my birthday weekend special!

I had a wonderful ride this weekend. I rode by myself on Chloe and ponied Zack along side and we just went on a short ride as I had to get back so we could eat cake. My birthday wasn’t until Monday but there are ladies that work day shift so we had the cake on Saturday to include as many as possible. It all worked out great! There is another birthday being celebrated today, so more cake on the way to my tummy. It seems October is a busy month for birthdays, so here is a shout out to ALL celebrating birthdays this month, HAPPY BIRTHDAY YA’LL!

The best view EVER! Looking between the ears of my horse!

As I am writing this I am thinking I should have started out with the SURPRISE of my life as seriously, I do not get surprised often which is a good thing. Maybe this is a fun way to end as I am actually writing in chronological order as all of the above happened on Saturday. When I returned from the stables with the left over cake, I drove up into my driveway and opened up my garage and low and behold I am staring at this white car in my garage. What???

My daughter was so sneaky telling me she was driving to SLO (San Luis Obispo) as we chatted on the phone while she was actually heading home. She spent the weekend with us and left Monday evening. THANK YOU LINEA from the bottom of my heart for this wonderful surprise. We had cake, lots of time together chatting while she went through cookbooks and I worked on my crochet blanket. These relaxing girl times are so precious to me and that was all of Saturday. I had to work this weekend but I work night shift so I still have time to spend awake during the day.

Sunday she drove down to my work as I am 10 minutes from IKEA. She had already items to be picked up that she bought online. We had a great lunch of Swedish Meatballs, so yummy and we shopped. I bought a few things and she bought more to help fill up her new apartment. Her items are like a coffee table that also is like a basket that can store items. And she bought a kitchen table which is what she ordered online. So FUN shopping with her, one of my favorite things to do for sure!

Monday was really fun too, but I felt bad because I already had an appointment with my farrier. My daughter’s best friend came over thankfully and hung out with her so they had some good girl time together. Then we got lunch and we went and got our nails done! OH MY, that is a treat and my nails look so beautiful. It is fun to look pretty as I am not much of a girly, girl. What an amazing, fun, surprising, fantastic weekend. I just had to share and I am going to end with a photo of my pony as I am heading out to take care of them this morning. I can’t believe it’s going to be in the 90’s today and its near the end of October! Cool down please! Go away Indian Summer as we call the fall heat wave here….

Miss Chloe coming to me for a trail ride!

I was so busy I didn’t take any photos with my daughter. Darn it all, but the memories will be with us forever never the less. I hope you all have a great week. I wanted to share my birthday happenings yesterday but just could not fit it in to my very busy day and weekend. I hope all the birthday celebrations this month are fun for everyone. Thankful and grateful to my family! I do LOVE YOU ALL so much! ❤ ❤ ❤

Birthday Pony Girl,

Weekend Coffee Share; Reflecting, Family and My Loves!

Weekend Coffee share is a time for us to take a break out of our busy lives and enjoy some time catching up with friends (old and new)! Please grab a cup of coffee or tea and share with us! What’s been going on in your life? any weekend plans?

Welcome to my coffee share and I am enjoying a nice hot cup of coffee with my sweet Italian cream. I looked back and I have missed a few weeks as they just fly by at record speed these days. Here it is the middle of October and my birthday is right around the corner, another year gone and Wow, turning 29 again and again suites me fine! Haha, 29 as I reflect back I had 2 new babies only a year apart back then. The memories, but I digress. Can I get you a cup of coffee, hot or iced? or maybe tea or orange juice?

I wanted to thank you all today. I can’t tell you how much my life has changed when I joined WordPress and started blogging. I look forward to reading as many blogs as I can and respond in kind when I can and I am learning so much through blogging. I have had such great advice from you all in one way or another and I also have grown so very fond of all of you and enjoy all our interactions with one another, AMAZING!!

I had no idea what I was doing but I strive to be here one way or another trying to write interesting posts but find I am just sharing what I LOVE and with an audience that I never knew would be so warm, caring, sweet, heartfelt, compassionate – I am running out of words but I think you get the idea. I can say from the bottom of my heart I am humbled and thankful for my blogging friends, and may I meet many more! ❤ As I reflect this morning, I can’t tell you how much I look forward to sharing and writing my blog! I’m thinking of joining the 100 word count writing prompts. I love the imagination and writings of these posts!

My son sent me this photo of Miss Alice in Montana! They visited there a couple weeks back and it snowed! Her first time seeing snow! ADORABLE! My new home screen photo, of course!

Family is just so important to me, so much so that my youngest son and I had a conversation about where we should live. I have really good friends and family that have had life long dream places they wanted to live, and they’ve made those dreams come true and have moved away from family to live at those destinations. I however do not have that “favorite” or “dream” place. I can’t think of one place I would die to live, and the thought of moving further away from family is just not going to happen and too sad to think about. That’s when my son said your destination is your family. You will live anywhere close to them, at least one of them since I can’t be by all of them all at the same time.

It made me think about my future plans, which are on track still to move to Arizona. I will be visiting there to help my family move from a house they’ve been renting, to a townhouse they will rent. They will be able to save money for a house by moving into the townhouse in November. I LOVE seeing Alice’s face every day on my phone! She makes me smile! 😀

My LOVES as I enjoy a day at the barn. I can’t share enough of my horses!
My girlfriends redhead mare! They have a reputation these chestnut mares of being a handful and she lives up to this reputation! Gracie is 27 years old and going strong!
Chloe and Zack. I so love this photo of these pretty ponies!

I want to be true to me and so I will always continue to share these pretty ponies. I try and share different sides of them both in photo and in the written word. I have so many posts about them, the history of us together and how I got into horses. I have loved horses since I was born, how can you say that you think? I truly believe there is something we are born with that is hard to explain, probably in our DNA. My Mom and Dad found me loving the rocking horses at Sears. They surprised me for Christmas when I was 2 years old. They said I knew what was in the box, jumping up and down and once opened and assembled I rode that pony every single day singing, “A horsie, a horsie” as I rocked back and forth. The perfect babysitter I was told! Haha, here I go digressing again. I guess I am in a reminiscing mood this morning.

I so enjoyed sharing coffee with you this weekend. I keep forgetting to share that the weekend coffee share is hosted by eclectic alli – oh gosh, I struggle with links but I want to give her credit for hosting this wonderful share each week! If you visit her sight you can find the link to where you can share your weekend coffee share if you are blogging one. Thank you for visiting and I SO ENJOYED having coffee with you this weekend.

Have a wonderful weekend!

It’s May, Staying Strong!

I can’t believe it’s May! My how the weeks fly by and I keep meaning to write every week and the time slips by and I am so busy I’m finding it difficult to fit everything into my days. My motto for this month is to STAY STRONG! I need to keep centered, and not let my thoughts stray to far to the future for as everyone knows the future is hard to see. No matter how hard we try, and I was raised with the attitude that you can do anything you set your mind too, it isn’t always that easy to get to your goals – if you have set goals. How do you handle crazy busy days? do you stop and give yourself a break? Stop and smell the roses? Stop and rest and regroup your thoughts?

I need to regroup my thoughts, reorganize them and start having smaller goals. What I mean is to set goals for my days off. Then when I conquer one goal, move to the next and so on and so forth because I find myself not accomplishing anything, thinking too far into the future, feeling sad about the future not coming to fruition. Like I can make changes instantly, NOT, it takes planning and I am finding myself feeling sorry for myself and not moving forward. I’m finding myself in stagnation.Ugh, a terrible feeling! How do you stay focused, on track and moving forward? Or is it just me, overwhelmed and trying to find my path? Hmm… Writing this is helping me focus! 😀

My daughter’s guinea pig Rey, I am babysitting her piggy’s and they are adorable!
This is Jin, and she is a bit more shy and so beautiful with her curly coat!
Up close! I love their squeaks!
Hi girl! I see you as she is looking for more pea flakes! ❤

As I am sitting here writing this I am realizing that I have lost focus because I am putting others before me and worrying about these others has got me lost. I am talking about my grown children. I LOVE THEM so much that I want to live and be near all of them (which is impossible) and of course I want to be 100% available (which is impossible). I work a full-time job and of course have my own responsibilities and so how can I be available 100% of the time? It’s so crazy that I have gotten into this rut because I need to move forward and not be stagnant. I am realizing that I am there for my children and I am putting incredibly silly demands on my time! Oh dear, I need to realize there is only so much I can do, and only so many places I can be and still be HAPPY! AND that’s all I want for my children is HAPPINESS! ❤ ❤ ❤

How can you not SMILE at his handsome face! ADORABLE! 😀

STAYING STRONG is so important as I know how important my role as a mother, wife, co-worker and friend to others can be and I think setting smarter shorter achievable goals are not only more realistic but doable. I am going to try and cook more (I work crazy hours and so I don’t make dinners like I use to but I can use the crock pot and or plan and freeze meals to make life easier. Just takes planning). I need to plan and be more in the moment not only for my animals but my loved ones as well. I CAN DO THIS! My am I in a funk, haven’t felt this way in a long time. Holy smokes, maybe it’s just my age, I think they sometimes call this mid-life crisis?? Haha, maybe that’s what I am experiencing. I wouldn’t be surprised! I feel like I want to make a LIFE CHANGE, But how? Life is challenging, hard, fun, and I have always loved life to it’s fullest! I feel like I’m drowning a bit. My head is above water though and am feeling better by the minute!

It’s BIRTHDAY month for my son Harrison and is wife Amber! Here is Harrison from last year as he takes a selfie with Chloe, Alice is on her, I miss them so….

I am hoping to set a goal to write each week. I sometimes overthink this process, get overwhelmed and so I don’t write anything. I also want to focus on my house and it’s needs. Who likes housework? Not me, but I shouldn’t be so neglectful. Not that we live in a pig sty, haha, even though I now have piggy’s in my family room, but I can do more and help out more. I did rake the backyard last week to help my husband, so I am doing more each week. I don’t want to apologize for my blog post. I don’t feel like my sunny self, but it’s coming back I promise. But I am human, and want to be real. I don’t want anyone to think my life is perfect, far from it and I know sometimes reading things that may be sad isn’t fun, but I don’t think this is that sad just not my bubbly self. I’ll be back, and you know I LOVE my life, my family and all of you that take the time to read my posts. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! ❤

STAYING STRONG! Always,

-Diana

Family Visit’s, Busy Days!

California poppy’s are blooming everywhere! This is at Chino State Park.

It has been a crazy, busy last two weeks. It seems as I get older instead of slowing down I am getting busier and I seem to try and cram in all I can in one day, or in this case two weeks. But it is all good and I hope all the family that I saw in the last two weeks enjoyed our time together as much as I did, especially because we got to see and do some very fun things. Breaking bread together is on the top of my list of favorite things that I enjoy, probably because I LOVE FOOD! ❤

I am going to share some food photos I did take as we ate at a yummy Mexican restaurant, Anchos in Riverside and my oldest sister treated us and it was absolutely delicious. They make homemade tortillas and we all got some sort of fajitas and with those homemade tortillas making soft tacos, oh goodness, my mouth is watering just thinking about all the good food we shared together! We also ate Sushi two times with my other sister who was here too, the last dinner she treated, Thank You both – sister’s rock! ❤

Shrimp fajita’s, with jalapeno butter for dipping! Best taco’s I’ve ever had!
Sushi which I LOVE! This is actually my sister’s plate as her’s looks the best. ❤

As I write this things have settled down. I had two sisters (out of 4, and I have 1 brother) come and visit for different reasons, but there was an event we shared together and that was to go to my Aunt’s 90th birthday party. What was fun is that we were able to celebrate my oldest sister’s birthday as her birthday is close to my Aunt’s so we were able to take her out to celebrate before she had to fly home. And we were able to eat great food with yummy dessert’s, we all had a piece of pie instead of cake for her birthday! It was a wonderful day and we had a great time at my Aunt’s festivities too. ❤ Do you have busy family days? Sometimes the busy gets crazy busy, but am thankful we all made it work.

I was so thankful that my sister’s came to share my love of my horses. Intermixing each other’s schedules, trying to make it all work, one of my sister’s is a horse back rider and use to own Zack which I adopted when she moved to Idaho. My other sister is not a horse person but spent time at the stables visiting while we went on a short trail ride. Here is a photo of my Aunt who is doing well, and looks good at 90 years old! ❤

My Aunt Rene who turned 90 in February, 2019 ❤
Sally is on Gracie, Sharon on Zack riding one of a few trail rides this weekend!
My sister Bonnie sitting, and Sharon is standing as we visit at the stables!
The view leaving Chino State Park, such a beautiful view!

I take so many photos and I want to share so many, but I also want to share my story as so much has happened in the last two weeks. I am just touching on my busy days, no use boring everyone with all the details. Suffice it to say that there was a lot of decision making in trying to figure out how to fit everything in we wanted to do together. Amazingly we made it all work which I am proud of and I am hoping my sister’s enjoyed their time here in Southern California. 😀 I think I’ll just write another post about my visit to Arizona to help my family there and most importantly I got my granddaughter’s hugs in which I cherish. ❤ I can’t help myself, one more photo! Thank you for spending time with me and reading about my busy weeks! 😀

She melts my heart, my granddaughter and me! ❤

Family crazy times, visiting sister fun and grandma joy!

Moving in the Air!

I am home alone! I don’t know when the last time I was home alone, I can’t remember. It’s so strange, I am always with someone and have never lived on my own and alone. I know there are many people who live alone and I have to say I have never experienced this and have always been surrounded by family of some sort. I have never thought about that until now. The reason I am home alone is because my husband and youngest son left today to drive to Santa Maria, CA to help my daughter and her husband move from there to a city to the south called Lompoc. They decided to rent a newer house on the other side of town, so they are moving this week. They already picked up the truck this afternoon! I’m so excited for them as even though it’s a pain to move, I know they will love a newer house with a nice big kitchen. My daughter loves to cook and especially bake, so this will be so nice for them! 😀

I can’t wait to visit too! I will be here for another day and leave Thursday morning to drive up there to help her unpack. My hubby and son there will spend one more night so we will be together and then they will come home Friday and I will stay til Sunday.  It will be so nice to get away and spend some time with my daughter, I wish I could take more days off but at least I will have a good three days or so. It is about a three and a half hour drive up to Lompoc with no traffic so more like a four-hour drive as there is usually some traffic, but we do try to travel during less traffic times which is usually the middle of the day or later in the evening. We will be doing day driving.

This is my daughter Linea and her husband James who we are helping move this week/weekend. This photo is a few months old as we see each other about every other month, I need to take more photos!! I have to tell you that this week is busy and FUN and in two weeks from now my son Harrison and his family is moving to Scottsdale, Arizona! I am a proud Mama as he has been hired at the Mayo Clinic as a Medical Physicist Assistant. It is a bit stressful for them as they are waiting to hear if they are able to rent or lease a house that they put a deposit on as they were out there last week looking for housing. He reports to work there October 22 and his wife was able to get her job transferred out there in Phoenix too, which is great news. My husband will be helping them move including driving there in two weeks! Such a busy month for everyone, crazy days. I pray all goes smooth for them as there is so much to be done for their move to Arizona. I have a photo that I actually LOVE of them and I hope they do not mind me sharing on my blog. They are such a great family! ❤ ❤ ❤

FB_IMG_1498883422173

Life is full of changes and changes I have to accept no matter how hard they may be and one of the biggest things I am going to miss is this cutie-patutie there sticking her tongue out! Her HUGS, her LAUGHTER, her stories, her innocence and seeing the world through her eyes. I am so VERY THANKFUL for the last three years. I have been able to spend so much time with her and hope to be close to them in the future, just need to figure everything out here before we get things moving into the direction of moving. But they are only an hours flight away and I know I will be visiting often. It is a five-hour drive which isn’t bad, but there are many flights almost every hour to Phoenix so I will probably fly mostly.  I have to share a few more photos, I may have shared before but it is worth sharing again. So darn cute! ❤

20180807_105957-1.jpg

Haha, up close and personal!! She is so funny as I try to do a selfie and she was being so silly. OH, HOW SHE IS GOING TO MISS THE HORSES!! I am hoping that one day next year some time we can make the move to Phoenix. I worry about Chloe as she has a bad back leg and am not sure if she can make the trailer ride for five hours to Phoenix. I will have my vet check her out and see what he thinks of her situation but I can’t stress out about all the details. We need to just make sure we get this young family safely moved and then we will see what will happen next year. Love my family, love my life, lots of changes. It will all work out and I know everyone will love their new digs!! 😀 😀 😀

Crazy moving family days!

First day of Summer!

20180609_102714.jpg

SUMMER – is for horseback riding. It is the time of year that you plan on enjoying the outdoors, whether you are planning a vacation or doing that something you love to do outside! It could be visiting the beach or hiking in the mountains. I bet you can take one guess what I do in the summer, I horse back ride all over my home town with my good friends! And this girl is the best trail horse and I am so grateful and thankful for Chloe and my other trail horse Zack.  I am lucky my sister came to visit for a short time and so we got to enjoy some trail rides….  we could ride forever, visiting, chatting, reconnecting. So much FUN!  😀

SUMMER – is for gardening as I’ve shared my tiny garden in previous posts. I’m loving all the outdoor activities which include not only gardening but going to the park with my granddaughter. I just remembered we have summer night concerts at the park on Friday nights! SO nice to enjoy some music and some BBQ or we can bring food and picnic. I have to remind my hubby that the Concert in the Parks have started, we missed the first one but will catch some and enjoy Friday nights out for sure this summer.  😀

SUMMER – is for Graduations!! At least this year is all about graduations! Starting with my daughter who is graduating with her Masters Degree in Humanities. Then my middle son graduated with a BS degree in Physics and my youngest son graduated with his BS degree in Computer Science. Oh my, this momma can’t express how proud I am of my adult children. They will always be my children but the accomplishments they have achieved are humbling to me as I admire their tenacity, their dedication and their strength to stay on course and finish what they started. I find that life can get in the way of goals, and I am grateful and I’m very impressed they achieved their goals. Love you all so very much!  ❤ ❤ ❤

SUMMER – Brings sunshine and smiles. It brings hot days, summer storms and I am hoping that everyone has the best summer this year. I am looking forward to so many things, watching my garden grow, enjoying my horses and having fun with family. What does your summer bring for you this year? I’d love to hear from you! Thank you for visiting!  😀

She Has No Fear!

IMG_20180606_115615_342-1.jpg

Can you tell she loves to RIDE! She is a natural and has no fear, loving everything about horses. Zack is so nice and relaxed and loving the attention as I lead him around with her getting a ride. We were actually done here and so I didn’t try to get him to look at me as he stood so relaxed, relaxed ears not looking forward but not a bit disagreeable. I adopted Zack from my sister who use to use Zack as a mounted patrol horse with the Chino Police dept. It was all volunteer work but she has had him at events where there’s been a lot of children running around and she told me he acted like he wanted to bite at them. We are not sure what he was thinking, maybe he thought this is a game? but he didn’t seem to like them much and so I have been taking my time with Alice and Zack. He has been very kind and patient, and I have not seen any meanness coming from him but I don’t over do it with their contact and I am teaching Alice to be respectful around him. My mare, Miss Chloe has the “patience of Job” and LOVES people and children. She loves on her in many ways and I have complete confidence she watches out for this sweet little girl. ❤

Miss Alice rides a lot of horses these days, one lucky little girl as my girlfriend Sally walks around with her on her horse Gracie. I walk with her on Miss Chloe and Zack and then occassionally she will ride with Sally pictured here. She is getting her fill of horses each day she comes to the stables and I am hoping she will be a very good horse rider and enjoy them with me since I do have two so I can share them with her as she grows. I know someday they will be too old or too slow for her but I have a lot of years to go with her and my beautiful ponies! 😀

I have to share her discovery of band-aids as she has fallen on her knees this past week. Her other Grandma babysits her as well and she got a small boo-boo at her house and so she decided to put on a band-aid to quiet her down so that is the big band-aid. And then at my house she had the smallest trip down on her knee on the other leg which led to a tiny cut and of course another band-aid. Oh my, she is so funny but a bit over dramatic with her skinned knees, she is so ADORABLE! What are Grandma’s for right? to spoil and console the best we can, and I told Alice she is fine and doesn’t need the band-aid but she is very insistent. Mom and Dad has removed them, which I was glad as she needs to be strong as there will probably be many more boo-boo’s in her future. She makes me giggle, she makes me laugh out loud actually, she gives the BEST HUGS! I’m a LUCKY Grandma! ❤ ❤ ❤
