Weekend Coffee Share: It’s June 1st!

My roses LOVE the cool weather! Summer is almost here….

It is afternoon and I don’t have a photo of tea only coffee. So I decided to share my rose photo instead! I know rather random but it sure puts a smile on my face as I have some ice tea with some kettle corn as my afternoon snack. What are you doing this weekend? Would you like some ice coffee? tea? hot or cold? Weekend coffee share is to share what we are doing on our weekend, to share with friends old and new. I so enjoy sharing, my photos are all rather random as I don’t have a theme this weekend. I have been busy, so my photos show all that I have been doing these last few days! ūüėÄ

I am at the end of my walk up to my house. This is the side view as we live on a corner, our driveway leads to one street and our address is the other street along the front of the house!

I try and walk at least twice a week, I should walk more often but walk a fair amount at work and at the stables. It has been very gloomy in the mornings, the temps in the 50’s which is great walking weather! I wish I walked today, this is my walk from yesterday. The sun has not come out until noon this last week which is A-okay with me as the summer heat I know is right around the corner. I was scheduled with 2 days off in a row. The next photos are all the things I have been working on the last few days on my days off. I felt very productive, what do you do on your days off?

My daughter’s guinea pigs, time to clean their cage! So they are out getting some exercise, or maybe just eating! Haha! Love them! ‚̧
I have been working on these crochet zoo animals! I am almost done, there is still some detail work to finish up on the Hippo. They aren’t difficult but it has taken me awhile to get them done!
My days off include trail riding! These beautiful purple Jacaranda trees are in full bloom!
I know I’ve shared these blooms before, but they are going crazy! Pomegranate trees at the stables with TONS of blooms!

I have been wanting to try and start a garden but I had so much trouble last year that I haven’t gotten up the energy to give it another try and I probably should have put my energy into it because this year I think our weather would be so good for gardening. This time last year we were battling heat. It was a very hot year last year and even though I know I would still have to water a lot, the cooler weather I think is kinder to growing plants. I know it isn’t too late if I investigate and find what is good to start growing this time of year. I also could buy some starters instead of starting from seed. Hmm… just writing about this is making me think I will give it a try and grow just a little garden. I had gopher problems last year, but I could just stick with my containers. Okay, I think I’ve convinced myself, thanks for listening or reading my ramblings! Haha, writing is so cathartic, I hope I’m not boring!

I found the trick to photograph her sticking her tongue out! Feed her a treat, stand back to take a photo and here you go! Haha, She’s adorable!

I sure am enjoying sharing my tea with you today! I also did some house work, laundry, you know all the usual stuff. Its funny, I am so busy and since I have the horses and my family is busy with their responsibilities we do not plan on very many outings. I did when my kids were young children but since my grown children live in far away places I just plan my outings there, visiting in their towns or cities. So in two weeks I will be driving to Arizona to see my son and family, so excited as I can’t wait to see my granddaughter!! Since I trail ride so much and am outdoors with my horses, my other relaxing outlet is my crochet projects. What do you do to relax? I use to read but have been really bad about reading. I blame that on my horses! ‚̧ ‚̧ ‚̧

Feeling relaxed, weekend FUN,

Weekend Coffee Share; Weather, Crafts and Horses!

I am enjoying a wonderful cup of coffee with some cookies. I haven’t bought Girl scout cookies in some years and someone at work asked if I would buy some from her niece so I obliged. I forgot how good they are, and with a warm cup of coffee, blissful. Will you join me for a cup of coffee? I hope you are having a wonderful weekend. I am currently listening and watching it rain and rain and rain. It is one of the wettest winters this year, and for a outdoors person, or more to the point a horse owner, the rain can be difficult to enjoy. I am able to keep my horses dry, the rain keeps us on our toes! As I sit and enjoy the sound of the rain, I also crochet and I thought I’d share what I am working on. It doesn’t look like much yet so I’ll have to post a photo when I am done. ūüėÄ

This is the beginning of a Tunisian Croc Rock Cap
My kitty is always near me watching me or sleeping!

I love to crochet, I also cross-stitch which I haven’t done in a few years. I may have to get back into that but for now I am having fun making crochet projects. This will be a warm beanie or hat. I am almost done crocheting the edge that will fold up around your head for a double thickness. So the next step is to crochet the cap. I love this deep red wine color. As I sit here working on this project, I can see I didn’t complete my last one. It’s a Star Wars figure, almost completed. They are so cute, I have made so many and want to make all the figures in the crochet book I have. I seem to get side tracked, sometimes having multiple projects going at one time. Here is a photo of many I’ve made so far.

I LOVE Star Wars and it has been so FUN to make these characters!

Since I am stuck indoors, other than housework (who does housework? I do get help from hubby in this area. I will admit, he spoils me when it comes to housework!) I am either writing this blog, or crocheting my crafts while watching my multitude of cooking shows! So relaxing¬†and¬†helps¬†with stress. We all should do things that helps with the stress in our daily lives, especially for those of us who work full-time. That would be me, and my job as a supervisor has enough stress that I need all the help I can get to de-stress or unwind! Are you enjoying your coffee, or tea? I hope you are having a great weekend. It isn’t all bad staying inside! I wanted to share the outdoors from this morning as I did go to check on the ponies and took some photos to share. ‚̧

They thankfully are dry under their shelters. I will add more shavings as needed.
SO MUCH RAIN! We are saturated, but they just walk around, stretch their legs.
Zack loves to stand in the rain, you can see how he is somewhat wet.
Miss Chloe says Please?

I take so many photos, they just bring me so much joy. I call to them and they always come over to see if I have treats. So as they beg, of course I went and got them some horse cookies. How can you not with these cute faces. It drizzled off and on as they walked around and eventually scratched each others back. I turn them out every day and ride them often. As I am looking at my weather app it says rain every day until Tuesday. That means 3 more days of rain. I remembered driving home from the stables that I have an Aussie waterproof (oiled) rain coat hanging in my garage that has been there for some years. My hubby bought it for me at a yard sale here in town and I tried it on when I got home and it fits great! So I will ride tomorrow in the rain with my Aussie raincoat! Hopefully it will only be drizzling, right now as I look out my window it is pouring, oh dear, so much rain. We need it but I wish it would space itself out not rain every single day, all day long.

He is so cute, not wanting to miss out on a treat!
My¬†Aussie¬†raincoat.¬†My¬†husband¬†said,¬†FINALLY¬†you¬†will¬†be¬†using¬†it! ¬†Can’t¬†wait!

SO I finally have rain gear. It’s only a coat but it will keep me dry in all of this rain. I can’t believe how hard it is raining and it hasn’t stopped in hours!! I have some heavy leather protection I bought for my Ariat boots that I wear to the barn. I added another layer this morning to keep them moist and dry. The oil I apply helps repel water. Developed by a firefighter, it has kept my Ariat’s in good condition and with all this rain they are surviving which makes me happy. I am trying to enjoy the weather but as you can see it is a challenge with the horses. I am hoping you are having a great weekend, and are enjoying your coffee with me. I am enjoying your company and I sure do enjoy sharing my crafts, my horses and my weekend with you. ‚̧ I must say it is getting very green here in Southern California. It will be a beautiful spring, and the mountains abound with green grass, and we will get wild yellow mustard grass which will be beautiful to see in a few weeks. When these storms blow through the local mountains will be snow capped, a beautiful sight to see. I should be grateful for the weather, I think I will get another cup of coffee, how about you?

Crafting, relaxing, raindrops on my head!

A Work in Progress….

I really wanted to share my husbands project. I started this blog thinking I would mostly if not only write about horses but as I have been writing I am finding that I really LOVE sharing my life and it’s stories. And so I just have to share my hubby’s hard work on his love of cars and his old Isuzu Trooper that we bought around 1992, it is a 1989 so almost 30 years old. It has had a few engines and he just brought it in to his mechanic to fix this that and the other thing so it is in great running condition. It’s the body work that he has been working on, and he calls it version 2.0 this photo is where just the sides are painted. He figured out and created the side metal additions. He had this vision, and I think he did an excellent job! I’ll share the photos I’ve taken of a work in progress.¬† ūüėÄ

20180802_134224.jpg The car is only painted along the sides at this point and the rest is sanded as he gets ready to paint. He is putting on a lot of detail work, making sure everything is where he envisions it. He has replaced the rearview mirrors, which are removed in this photo. So much work, it may not look like a lot but he has put in a ton of hours on his car.

I wanted to share the roughness, here he has sanded the paint and he hasn’t finished the back-end yet.

20180802_134313.jpg

This looks pretty ugly but look what he has done!

20180824_193916.jpg

WOW! Right? Isn’t this beautiful? He just amazes me as this front end just blew me away when I saw it completed. I can’t see his vision as he takes all these parts off and then knows where they all go as he puts it all back together! I am not a car person, I think he does amazing work and I love his creativity. Here he is getting help from our son on putting the door panels back on the doors. He had to remove them to screw on all the metal paneling work he did. AND I didn’t take photos of him working on the roof, but he had to screw the roof rack on and had to figure out how to do that so it has complete support! Crazy! His arm one day was so cut up, he said the cat scratched him, NO I said, it was his car as he had to squeeze his arm up in-between rough metal places to screw things in and it cut up his arm. Guys just do the craziest things, but it is “his Love” it truly is as he has had so many different cars over the years, he is such a car guy. Love this guy! ‚̧ ‚̧ ‚̧

You can see a “C” stencil as he is adding all these letters and markings on this car.

This says it all! This is now his Air Force car which he is so proud to have served. He served two tours and is a Vietnam Vet. He was in the service before I met him and we are so proud of him and of our daughter who is a Captain in the Air Force currently residing and working at Vandenberg Air Force Base, CA.¬† So thankful she is closer to home. I can’t wait for her to see his Isuzu version 2.0.

I’m having so much FUN sharing this I can’t tell you, as I’m so proud of all he does. I should probably have him read this as he knows I blog but does not read blogs nor is he on any social media. I will post again the completed Isuzu version 2.0 as the back-end and the roof racks are still a work in progress. I hope you enjoyed, do you have any fun projects you are passionate about? I’d love to hear from you, it is fun to see and show each others passions!

Passion sharing Wife,
