Welcome to my coffee share and yes, I usually share a cup of coffee as my first photo but I got to thinking the last few posts I’ve featured some pretty flowers. This bush in our yard is just going crazy and so full of blossoms I just had to share. Fall is in the air here even though we are still getting pretty hot each day, we can feel and see the days slowly getting shorter as we head into fall. I have been busy the last few weeks which include visiting my sister in Colorado for a long weekend and riding and taking care of my ponies and working. Of course, being busy includes family time here at home and if you know or have known any horse crazy people you will realize the horses take up much of my free time! π π π
Can I get you a cup of coffee or tea? I will have some ice tea since we are having a hot weekend. I have so much to share. I had a grand time with my oldest sister and her beautiful family in Colorado. She lives south of Denver and the day I arrived there were scattered thunderstorms and rain. We had to drive home in the rain and at her house it even hailed! The hail stuck and looked like snow, and I asked if they get big hail and yes, they can get such big hail storms the hail can dent cars and cause damage. We never get hail that big and it never lasts long in our area on the ground.
The first photo is a beautiful tree in my nephews front yard. The second photo is my sister’s front yard with the pretty aspen and her back yard with her deck and greenery. My nephew and his wife live a couple streets away from his mom. I am so happy my sister has family so very close to her since she lives alone, family isn’t far away. Her grandkids would come over weekly or more often when they were younger. She always has a Sunday dinner so her son and his wife always get together with her to break bread. I just LOVE that tradition and it helps bring everyone together. I think family that eat together, stay together. I enjoyed being there for my long weekend to enjoy all the things they do together and their wonderful company.
Here is to more visits with not only my sister in Colorado, but I am hoping to visit other family members as we wrap up this year and if I can’t fit it in these last few months then I will be traveling next year for sure! I have Portland, Reno, Idaho and Northern Calif to visit. Who knows? Maybe I will head back to Colorado next year too!
I had such a great weekend with my horses. I like to call my horses my ponies, even though they aren’t ponies at all. I have mentioned it has been hot getting into the high 90’s (37C) and so I actually gave my ponies Saturday off but was able to ride both of them Sunday. Even on their day off I turn them out and let them be horses, meaning I am not doing any particular training with them. They can mosey around or run around and enjoy the time out and about in the arena. Can I get you a refill on your coffee or tea? I can tell you that the trail ride with Murphy went really well and I am so proud of him.
He remains calm through out the ride as we head down the trail. He will spook on occasion which is totally normal. I am always praising him and reassuring him which helps him learn that the little bit of scary stuff isn’t that scary. He is a very brave horse especially at his age of 3 and so I know that every ride he will just get better and braver. He has a lot to see out on the trails, so in time he will be just as seasoned as my girl Miss Chloe! β€
I had a super fun ride on Miss Chloe after I rode Murphy with another friend at the barn. We rode around the block and it was a bit hotter and later in the morning but it was a lovely ride. She is such a good pony, walking along as not much phases her on most rides. She is a horse of course, so there will be times when she will be frightened or scared but we have been together for so many years it doesn’t take much to reassure her that we are fine and she calms right down if she spooks.
Thank you for visiting my #weekendcoffeeshare and I want to thank Natalie who hosts as she is doing a wonderful job. I am just going to make it for this weekend share, but wanted to join in since it has been a couple of weeks. I want to thank my best friend for a wonderful lunch we had together this last weekend. We don’t see each other like we once did and so we are going to meet for lunches more often to stay in touch! YAY! I just love that and I will try and stop by her barn more often as well. I hope you all have a wonderful week ahead! π
Happy Trail Riding and Traveling Cowgirl,

Thank you so much Xenia for visiting and for your wonderful kind comments! My horses so far are not growing long winter coats so I’m happy about that. It’s plenty warm here in the winter, some breeds just grow very long coats even if it’s not that cold. Zack grew very long coat each winter so I clipped him to make him more comfortable! I gave the Ponies a big pat from you all earlier today! Thank you, and pats and hugs to Eivor and Pearl! ππ΄β€οΈπΎπ

Hi Diana,
Sounds like a lovely time with your family. I miss Colorado, but my wife is not so endeared so we may only pass through it in the future on our way to somewhere else as we don’t (now?) have any family there.
It also sounds like you are sorta back to normal spending lots of time with your “ponies”. I think your use of the term is the first time I’ve seen it used as a clear term of endearment. Of course, they are adorable.
Then, about that term, “cowgirl”, I’m not sure I would ascribe it to you. I get how it is used historically, but cow boys and girls use their animals as tools to get a job done – and normally involves getting cows from point A to point B. You are more of a devoted equestrian, and I’m still trying to decide if you are the horse-version of a cat lady. You love your animals so much that you would be tempted to have them in your home with your if that were somehow possible, but can you see horses jumping from the couch to the bookcase. . . Quite the image – right?
The only problem is that “cow-girl” invokes the image of this hearty, horse-wise, cute gal, confident and ready to put in a long and hard day’s work with her horse. The term “equestrian” is somehow too sterile, overly dictionary-ish and leaves out all the fun that comes with the image of a real cow-girl.
Hmmm, I may have to yield this one to you.
Thinking . . .

Your photos of Colorado are lovely. What a nice garden. I love Murphy’s head he has such a kind eye I had forgotten he is only 3. What a great horse to be so sensible at 3 on the trails.

Thank you so much! When my sister drove me to the airport she said we forgot to take a photo of us together, darn it! I’m usually all about the photos and only took a few since we were so busy talking and visiting! I’ll definitely plan another trip next year since she is getting older and I want to keep in touch better with visits!
I too love Murphy’s head and kind eye! And he has the kindest disposition as well. I do believe with a kind start (as I think he was handled well on the racetracks) and with his nature being so sensible he really doesn’t get scared or frazzled much if at all! One of the nicest 3 year olds I’ve met! β€οΈπ΄

The weather still can’t make up its mind to be Summer winter or summer π€£π€£ but winter is supposed to be over it gets very hot and then very cold all in the same day, with a chance of rain…
Global weirdness ?
Love the photos of Murphy should do one that is unzoomed and then one that is zoomed for an appreciation of the distance between camera and model π€£π€£
September seems to have been full of life hey

Howdy B!
The weather sure is strange everywhere! I knew y’all were finishing up winter as we head into Fall for our winter. So strange to me that seasons are opposite but I get it, even though I’ve never thought about that before this blog and meeting people on the otherside of the world! Kinda cool actually!! π I’ll agree, global weirdness!!
Thank you much on the photo love and funny thing on my Facebook page I did exactly what you said, included the original photo, and then zoomed in photos. I actually have 3 shots from one photo with different zoom in perspectives! Haha! They are all pretty cool. Maybe I’ll just do a post with these photos so that I’ll have them here on my blog! I share so many photos, I thought I’d just share the ones I did here at a close up zoom! Anyways, it’s been a busy summer and September so far! Thanks so much for visiting! Have a great week too! π€ π΄π

Hi Gary!
Colorado is very beautiful but at this point I like just visiting. The elevation at a mile high takes time getting use to and I never stay long enough to adjust. I drink lots of water to stay hydrated and needed to take some ibuprofen for some mild headaches caused by the elevation. It was wonderful to visit my family!
I’ve been writing and calling my horses my Ponies as an endearment term for quite awhile and every once in awhile I try and explain in my blog why I love calling them that even though they really aren’t ponies. I have to laugh because it sounds funny calling Murphy “my pony” when he’s the tallest horse at the stables where I keep him so that’s why I noted it in my writings this weekend! Haha, I am laughing at my silliness!! π
Hmmm, you are correct that I’m truly an equestrian but that does sound more sterile and even though I spend hours at the stables almost every day, I would not want horses in the house but I totally get what you mean! Lol π€£ I’ve decided that it’s much better to board horses than to buy horse property and keep them at home as I think I need that “break” from taking care of them 24/7. I would not enjoy all that goes with that kind of care. Plus I have lots of friends at the stables so boarding is a win, win for me!!
And I’m no cowgirl and I don’t know a thing about wrestling cows, or more appropriately roping cows! π€£ I don’t even own a pair of cowboy boots! I ride in Ariats which is more like a hiking boot but made for equestrians! Haha, so I use “cowgirl” as an endearment term because I do a lot of work at the stables. I clean my tack, I clean and take care of my horses and I help maintain my stalls by adding extra shavings for the horses bedding. Haha, so I’m stretching it and I think it sounds better saying I’m a happy cowgirl, instead of “Happy equestrian” π I try and change up my endings and what is it called, poetic license? I feel like I at least do some cowgirl stuff to be okay to use the term, but ya, equestrian is more accurate!! ππ΄ Thanks for sharing your thoughts and always love when you visit for our weekend coffee share! β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ

Howdy partner, lol. The flowers are just stunningly sweet. That was so great, your visit to your sisters, Glad you didn’t encounter too bigger hail stones. Her home & surrounds look so pretty. Yum to the sushi. I just love in the pony photos how happy you look & that which ever pony you ride has one ear turned back listening to you, it is just so beautiful that our ponies can be just as attentive to us as we are to them, such mushy stuff. Lots of pats & carrots to your Murphy & Chloe. Have a (lol i had to look up what day it was) wonderfully fun rest of the week. From your sister pony friend in a paddock far far away. ( :
