Weekend Coffee Share; Trail Riding Fun in August!

Howdy! I got inspired by my daughter when she told me she has a friend who had trouble making a good chocolate chip cookie and her friend decided to make Mrs. Field’s Cookie recipe. I looked in my cupboard for my Mrs. Field’s cookbook and I have 2 copies of her cookie cookbook from the 90’s. One is new and one is well used, not sure why I have 2 and will give one to my daughter if she doesn’t have one. I just looked it up and it was published in 1992! My daughter told her friend those are cookies from her childhood, yup! I cooked many, many cookies from that cookbook. I haven’t cooked from her cookbook in quite a few years, sticking it in the cupboard I just stopped using it. I know one reason is she bakes her cookies low and slow, it takes double the time to bake one sheet of cookies! BUT IT IS SO WORTH THE WAIT!! These Blue Ribbon Chocolate Chip cookies are the bomb!! YUMMY! ❤ ❤ ❤

Forgive me, can I get you a cup of coffee or tea with some cookies? I sure wish I could share them with you all! I just could not resist sharing a photo with you today. I may use this photo from time to time as cookies go with coffee very well! Now onto my weekend, and I had a ton of fun with my stable friends and both my horses. I am getting to know my new horse Murphy better every single day. He is so much FUN!! 😀

I will tell you that I am a bit out of shape. Riding the trails on my other horse Chloe does not take all that much effort on my part so my riding legs are out of shape. Too be honest, after riding each horse the last two or three days I am a bit sore. My legs (or thighs) are sore this evening but it is a good sore meaning it is worth the riding as I want to get in shape. I need to get stronger, but Murphy is out of shape too because he is young and hasn’t done much which is perfect. We will both get into shape together! We are a team! Haha, a wonderful team and we are working really well together! YAY!

I am sharing my video’s a bit out of order but I figured it doesn’t really matter what day is what ~ it all happened this weekend. This video I took on Sunday as I didn’t think to take a video on my Saturday ride. I have another video I am going to share which I took on Saturday on Miss Chloe. It was so fun to be out with my horses this weekend. Here is Miss Chloe!

She is such a sweet horse and we have so much fun just checking out the neighborhood. I don’t know why, but I was noticing the trees and I have walked and driven by all of these houses countless of times when this one house just caught my eye with all the palm trees. I wish I kept the video going as I rounded the corner as the line of palms continues down the other side of the property!! They have quite the palm tree collection that is for sure!! I hope you enjoyed my video’s for this weekend. I have so much FUN making them, and I so enjoy sharing them!

I am going to end this coffee share with a couple of photos of my sweet horses and I hope you have had a wonderful weekend in this month of August. I can’t believe it’s the 15th, half the month is gone already.

I want to thank Natalie for hosting this weekends #weekendcoffeeshare as she is doing a wonderful job. Thank you Natalie!!

Happy Trail Riding Cowgirl!

~Diana ❤

  2. Hi Diana, I did not know that Mrs. Field’s Cookie recipe took so much more time to cook. This never occurred to me and now, when such treats need to be rare in my diet, I may not get the chance to do a real scientific taste test. I may have to just take your word for it.

Great to see you and your horse pals having such a great time. Your weather looks better than when we passed through your county, what, 2 weeks ago now. It was like an over there and we heading for the grapevine hills as fast as we could to shorten our time in the hot valley.

Writing has been a challenge lately. Vacation is always busy, so not much gets done. Post vaca days are filled with catching up so more doesn’t get done. But the past few days I’ve had some good writing time and got one new story out the door with some good research progress on another longer story.

I’ve gotten myself into a situation where I need to handle correctly some hard physics, like the formula for kinetic energy. I always knew there was one but my new story needs it and I can’t just drop it into a story because we all know that raw math is the kiss of death to most story readers. so I have to talk around it and use it correctly to keep from having real math types call me on not coloring within the lines of well known physics.

Fun, but it really slowed me down.

You should have an email about my one new short story, ‘Dominoes Patterns’ and I really like it but I may need to redo something because it did not attract much attention.

Regardless, it was a good write that created some interesting conversation between my two characters, so it was great practice.

Thanks for the visit. Your horses are always beautiful to see and your smile, when with them is real close to the smile I see when you’re with your grand kids.

    I think there’s a pattern here too.
    Blessings.

    1. Hi Gary!
Thank you so much for visiting with me and I appreciate all you WONDERFUL kind comments!! The weather is actually still pretty hot. We try and trail ride in the morning when it’s cooler but it’s still getting up into the 90’s and we are all getting tired of the heat. Definitely can zap your energy. I just push through it, getting all sweaty and stuff but it’s so fun being with the horses it’s worth it.

Haha, I didn’t think about the pattern with my horses love and my grandkids love and/or smiles!! Definitely would be a double domino as they are both right up there with my most favorite things in my life right now!!

I hear you with the writing is a challenge. I’m not only barely squeezing in a blog post or two each week, I’m barely able to keep up reading and commenting on so many others blog posts. I’ll hop over soon to read your “Dominoes Patterns” soon. I’m actually at work right now on my lunch break. Will need to get back to work hear soon!! I’ll get to it eventually and I’m sure it’s wonderful!!!

Interesting you have physics that you need to work out with a story but if I know you, you’ll get it altogether in a way we all can understand and yes, I wouldn’t want comments either of real math people calling you out on it…. That wouldn’t be fun. They say writing takes practice, practice lots of practice so all your stories get better and better!! 😀

I’m so happy you enjoy the horses, it’s such a passion as you know. Thank you again for visiting and have a WONDERFUL week!!
      Blessings to you too! 🙂

  3. I am here for the bomb cookies hahaha great stuff… just remembered a conversation was having while we were having a measure of some well aged whiskey, and someone remarked how great things take their time, I guess its not just whiskey, but cookies too and well most things which rent things at all…
Oh great to see a pic of you usually you share the view from your horses, so obviously you cant be in it, unless you do a bit of daredevilry haha… Love the video updates!!! Nice neighbourhood seems gorse trail friendly or just a happy coincidence?

    1. Howdy, sorry it’s taken so long for me to respond. I have family visiting, yikes I’m pulled in so many directions! You had me giggling at the aged whiskey and my longer cooked cookies comparison 🤣 I guess it’s true! Lol
And it’s funny as I’m riding Murphy more each week I’m finding myself wanting photos of me riding and scratching my head how can I get that shot? Haha, I may have to buy a pivot and you put your phone on it and the video on and the pivot will track you in the arena on video. But I do have friends that have captured some nice photos of me riding. Fun to see and share!!!

YES! My neighborhood is designed specifically for horses with over 100 miles of designated horse trails. They run all along one side of the streets, it’s the coolest town I’ve ever seen. So lucky to live here. This town is called Norco, Horse town USA! My kind of town!!! To me it’s like I’m in horse heaven with all the stables, dedicated trails and tons of horses in our town. At one time there were more horses than people living here. I think that number has changed over the years. Anyways, I hope you have a great week! ~D 🤠🐴
