My Weekly Smile; Good News! June 17, 2021

Welcome to my weekly smile and I wanted to share my huge smile again as I have gotten the green light to start doing more with Murphy! I had my Vet out this week and he took x-rays of his hind leg which had a splint bone fracture. It is healing nicely and he is ready to get to work. I am in no hurry and will start riding him soon. We are currently in a bit of a heat wave right now and so I will go to the barn earlier in the morning to try and beat the heat. This week I have been doing this and getting Chloe out on the trails. We just go for short rides and its just enough to get some nice walking in before it gets too hot. We only walk on our trails and I have been able to ride with my bestie girlfriend on her new horse Roscoe. I have some recent photos to share and a video! I’m just feeling so grateful and am smiling from ear to ear! 😀

It’s a short video but still fun to share! We still have some blooming jacaranda’s on the trails and I am enjoying all the purple blooms on our rides. This video is actually from the weekend but our rides are just like this as we ride around the blocks talking away and catching up on our lives. My girlfriend and I have known each other since we were 10 years old and so we have 50 years of history together and so we are always keeping each other up on all our families happenings as well. We never run out of topics, and we cherish all our time together. I feel so blessed to have such a good friend who is like another sister. Thanks for being here and for all your love and support Sally! ❤ She makes me smile too! 😀

I am so thankful Murph is healing up and the Vet gave me some anti-inflammatory cream called Surpass (for those horsey people out there) and he said this will help with any residual inflammation and so I am to apply daily. He said I can also apply it to his front leg where he has an old injury above his knee. He has some soft tissue that may reduce in size if I apply there also.

This is one of my shorter posts, I’ll say short and sweet! I really wanted to share my good news as I am so EXCITED! I know I keep saying I am going to take my time, and that’s because rushing gets you no where and everything has been going so smoothly with the purchase of Murphy to now the good news with the x-rays, I want to take the next step in stride with no rushing. I know I will be in a good place and he will come along nicely as we get to know each other with me riding him and us getting on together in the arena and eventually on the trails! I hope you enjoyed, and I hope you all have lots to smile about this week and always!

Happy Smiling Cowgirl!

    1. I’m hoping for some cooler weather too. And thank you! I’m undecided about having him walk with me while I ride Chloe. Initially that’s exactly what I was going to do but I may hand walk him out along side with my friend to see his reactions to the streets. Maybe that will help my decision. Chloe is definitely a pro at having a horse by her side but it will take some training in the arena so he knows he’s stuck by her side. Not sure what he’ll do since he’s so young. They usually follow along pretty well. 🙂

  2. YAY, YEEHAA. So happy for you & the Murph, what a joyous relief. Thanks for the cream recommend. Loved the video was cute how Roscoe thought about going the other side of the fence then got the message not to, was like oh ok. Too cute. Great to have a bestie to ride with. You have a great day to. both you & ya pony sister bestie.

    1. YAY!! Definitely great news! And a relief he’s healing good. Hahaha, Roscoe is a silly boy. After I made that video I thought I should have waited until she was next to me on Roscoe. I don’t think my girlfriend realized I was videoing! Lol 🤣
Have a great day too!! 🐴❤️🤠

  3. Roscoe really is a handsome horse.

I have a question, it might be a silly one, but the dirt path and fence trails between the road and houses is that specific for horse and rider or do they have another purpose as well? I think it is a great idea and it looks really striking as well.

Thanks for the virtual coffee Diana.

    1. Thank you! The dirt path and fence trails are specifically for horse and rider. We have over 100 miles of these designated trails throughout our town of Norco, which boasts itself as Horse Town U.S.A. they are beautiful trails and they have recently started replacing the fencing to the white fencing, so pretty!

The city of Norco maintains these trails, keeping them groomed, adding dirt or using a tractor to smooth them if needed. We have almost as many horses here (just googled it and it states 20,000 horses – there have been estimates of up to 50,000 horses!) The human population here is about 27,000.

Since I’ve loved horses since a toddler and owned horses since I was 10 yrs old living here in Norco feels like I’ve died and gone to horse heaven! My family thinks I’m nuts! Haha, not really but you know horse people are a little nutty!! ❤️🐴❤️🐴❤️
