Welcome to my weekly coffee share where we catch up with old friends and new! Can I get you a cold brew? or an ice tea? Too hot here to share a warm brew. How are you doing?
Welcome, and for those of you that need a hot cup of Joe, of course I have that as well. It was a bit cooler today but will be hot again going into next week. It’s going to be a very hot October, time for me to body clip my horse Zack. He grows a thick winter coat and so to keep him comfortable in our warm winters here in Southern Cali, I partially clip him (it’s called a trace clip) and I shave off the hair where he sweats the most and leave the hair along his topline to keep him warm. It’s an easy clip and I have these huge sheep shearing clippers that makes it a fast and easy job! Now I’ve gone off on a tangent, which I do sometimes. Let’s bring this back to heading into the weekend as I wanted to share a sunrise photo which I took on my walk this morning.

The last month or so have been hard for me as we are trying to figure out our future and what plans are good or bad which include where we want to live. I’ve shared lots about moving which may not make sense at this time and so because of this it is taking time away from what I would call my “normal life”. It’s been a roller coaster of emotions and I won’t delve into all the details here but suffice it to say I have been a bit absent from blogging. It has been a bit hard to focus my thoughts and when you feel anxious and a bit confused, it makes it difficult to put thoughts to virtual paper. I am pretty sure by the end of next week I will be able to write about something I have been working on, so it will be a surprise! Excited? I am, as it will be something totally worth sharing and am hoping set me up for a much better future!
So, I am going to share my kitties, my sons kitties and my sweet grand daughter which I miss terribly. I know I am not alone missing grand children and am thankful for technology since we can visit virtually which I am hoping we can do this weekend. I have been crocheting a baby blanket for yet another relative, my niece who had a son. Families growing, no matter what happens time keeps ticking. Oh speaking of time, this month is my birthday month. Hold on, I will post a birthday post as its a few weeks away. I think I am extra emotional because I am turning 60 this year. Yep, I can’t believe it and want to just stop counting. But I am a proud 60, healthy and going very strong. Here I go rambling again! Can I get you a refill? 😀
Funny story, my hubby came across a cat tree for free that was really tall. I didn’t take a photo of it but it had lots of cubby holes and was at least 5 feet high. Hanging rope to play with, all the fun things cats love so you would think this is a wonderful kitty jungle gym. After the cats checked it out it began. Dinah started hiding under the beds and would barely come out to eat. She would leer towards the room where this big cat tree was waiting, and running back under the bed at the slightest noise! YIKES! I told my hubby that cat tree has to go right away! He said he cleaned it really well, vacuumed the heck out of it and sprayed it (not sure what with) but it doesn’t matter, the scent will always be there and my Dinah was sure a new cat was in the house!
It took her 3 days to finally come out and about sort of ~ she is almost back to normal except if she hears a loud noise she scurries back under the bed. She is doing much better and I told my hubby no more used cat trees, EVER! Duchess didn’t blink an eye, so interesting their personalities. She doesn’t let a thing bother her, Duchess is brave and unaffected. 😀
My niece had her son at the end of August and so I am trying to get the baby blanket completed so I can send it to her. Darn, it’s already October. I just have threads to tie off on the back and stitch a border and it will be complete. These Sweet Dreams blankets are so much fun to stitch up, but this will be the last one for awhile. Next year I may make a few to sell at the local craft fair.
I just had to share the cute photo of my grand children. Oh how I miss them, but it is what it is and I know they are happy and healthy. I will be visiting them sometime soon so I have that to look forward to and I am thankful I can easily drive there, flying even better! ❤
Thank you for having coffee with me and sharing with me my ramblings. I am hoping to get back on track soon. I will call it growing pains, haha, since my family is growing and there are so many moving parts. I have family all over the place when I think about it and so I need to be thankful I have the wonderful family that I do. I had a wonderful chat with my sister today, and I just have to be thankful to be here and that I am able to share. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
Confused kitty crochet loving Grandma,
~Diana ❤
water boils at 100 degrees Celcius
the “normal” human body temperature is 37 degrees
so at 60 you would be one hot horse whispering kitty crochet loving Grandma.
Noticed you havent had much of a digital footprint hope everything works according to plan… but 2020 has taught us how normal is never really normal we just figure out how to work with the choices we have.
Have an awesome weekend

Thank you for the coffee Diana. Just breathe, the universe will show you the right next move at the exact right time. It’s an exciting adventure. ..even though we humans always want to know the nest step right away. I’m so guilty about that. I do know things will work out. Your family is beautiful, with two and four legged 🙂 Have a wonderful weekend. ❤

Waiting to hear your surprise…. Funny about the “new cat” in the house. They are so sensitive to smells. We had a cat that would attack his “brother” every time the “brother” visited the vet. It would take days before the scent was right and they could be friends again! Hope virtual visits go well and that you are having a great weekend!

I can’t wait to share next week my surprise! Kitties are such interesting animals, certainly nothing like dogs. I’ve had cats in the past that did like yours with the vet and the smells. Silly kitties!! Thanks so much for visiting and hope you have a wonderful weekend too! ❤️

I totally understand the strain of moving in these times. My Hubby and I were going to move back in August to follow new work with better pay. Unfortunately, as house hunting began we found there were no places open to visit, no response to emails or phone calls. So, hubby turned down the job. A few weeks later we learned that 1. the company lost the defense contract 2. race riots were happening every night, and it wasn’t safe to be on the streets even during daylight hours. A visit to the city for the interview was a very scary experience. No place was open so I sat in the hot car, in an open lot on a triple temp day for 2.5 hours. Couldn’t even find a place to get a cold bottle of water until we were well out of the city. And we both had nightmares/terrors about it. So, when hubby decided to turn it down, I didn’t argue. We’ve learned there’s a “still, small voice” that will let us know when it’s right, and when it’s not. So, for now, we stay where we are and count our blessing that at least he hasn’t been layed off. I have, since March due to covid.

Aww, so thankful you both are safe and that you have recovered. What a scary endeavor and you both made the right decision. I agree, it’s just not the right time for many reasons to pack up and move to another state. We are fine here for now. In time we will see what the future holds. Thank you so much for your comments and visiting my coffee share!! I hope you have a good weekend! ❤️❤️❤️

Hi Diana.
You’ve been missed, but I understand the tension of trying to figure out a move like you describe. If you check out my share for today, you’ll read about how we just married off our oldest son. My wife and I were very pleased when they told us how anxious they are to start having kids. They would be our first grand kids and it’s unclear where they will land or when but we need to get out of Calif. ASAP. I’m turning 66 early next year and approaching retirement. No one with a lick of sense retires in California unless they just have either no real use for money or so much of it that California taxes and prices just don’t impact them. I think you and I will have to share some insights about moving as we figure this out.
It’s so great to have you back.

There you are, I was wondering & hoping you were ok, as I do when any of my blogging buddies go walk about. Hilarious kitties it is funny how they are their own unique characters. It is a relief to have extended family like our pets for that little extra comfort when we need. The snuggly family photo, just adorable. Life has a way of being overwhelming at times doesn’t it; I have no doubt that you will rock 60 like the Queen bee crafty doin cowgal you are.

The Alice and Wolfie photo is so wonderful. I understand how life and its exigencies can sometimes leave us without the time, inspiration or energy for blogging. I look forward to your surprise! We went to see our Grandson yesterday for his 6th Birthday. He is a very happy fellow and we took him for a McDonalds take away lunch and some time at at playground. He was running everywhere but my husband and I were just sitting to watch him and we were freezing! But it was so good to spend some time with him.

Thank you so much Natalie for your wonderful kind comments. I’ve been taking a lot of deep breathes lately, and taking one day at a time! It’s helping! You are so encouraging and I appreciate your visit. I’m praying my surprise works out and I’ll know by end of next week. Hello! Thanks for the coffee. I enjoyed hearing your rambling because it feels more like a real conversation. If it was an actual visit instead of virtual, we could both ramble. 🙂 Your baby blankets are amazing! They must really take you some time but what a thoughtful gift. My niece just welcomed a new baby this week, always a happy event. Being away from family is the most difficult part of sheltering in place. I don’t have any grandchildren (yet) but I can imagine how much you must miss seeing them. They certainly look like sweet little ones. Hope you have a positive week with all the things you wish for moving forward.

Hi Nancy!
Thank you so much for having coffee with me and I appreciate all your kind comments! I really enjoy writing and sharing, like we are sitting around chatting, haha, we could ramble on together for hours I bet! I’m one of six kids and smack in the middle with older and younger sisters (only one brother!) So boy, can us sister’s talk!! I’m glad my ramblings make sense and you enjoyed my coffee share. And congratulations to your niece! ❤️ I love crochet and the blanket actually stitches together pretty fast. Finishing touches take a bit of time but super fun!! Being away from family is tough, they are such sweet grand kids!! Thanks again, and have a wonderful week ahead! 😀

The blankets are adorable so keep making them
Also / that cat tower is so interesting – I think used pet stuff might be a no-no
And I do wonder what energy or odors the cat picked up on !

Thank you so much!! Those blankets really are fun to make. I looked for a different one but came back to the sweet dreams!
We’ve tried used cat towers before with previous kitties with the same reaction! It’s amazing how affected they are but long lasting odors. Lol 🤣 I think cats have scent glands which they can use to personalize their space including cat trees! Thanks for visiting!! 😍

I think you are right about the glands and extra odors – and we know pets smell way better than us humans –
And our dog always amazes me when he walks and sniffs at so much – in a way I am glad to not smell everything ha
