Welcome to my weekly Smile! What makes you smile? My bell peppers are growing!
"There are no gardening mistakes, only experiments." -Janet K Phillips
I love this gardening quote because I feel like I make mistake after mistake but really I am learning and so to look at it as experiments as I learn brings me great confidence. I so appreciate the advice that I get along the way of my gardening adventures. I am okay with mistakes, I know that they are like steps in the learning ladder! My smile for this week is gardening success. After I mulched my container where my veggies are growing my bell peppers are taking off and are about an inch in length as you can see in the photo. Now the soil is staying nice and moist and I am seeing some healthy growth!
I have two bell pepper plants with lots of fruit! 😀
I am so happy, and it makes me want to continue in this container growing adventure. I have two more containers that I can use to grow more veggies which I will have to do some research to see what would be good to grow at this time of year. I am just one month into summer so if I buy starters I am sure there is a lot to choose from to grow. Fun to think about my teeny tiny garden!! I love being outside as this makes me smile too! I do have one more special smile I want to share, courtesy of my dear hubby.
My hubby surprised me with a sweet card and Ree’s cookbook! Yay!
I am a huge Food Network fan and watch so many cooking shows. I really like the competition shows, they are fun and entertaining to me and I realize this may not be everyone’s thing – but it is definitely right up there with my favorite thing to do as I sit and relax and crochet! Watching these shows (I record many of them) is my way of relieving stress in my busy schedule. I have one other of Ree Drummond’s cookbooks, so now I have two. I just love her cookbooks with all the photos and her food is very good. My sweet hubby makes me SMILE with this wonderful surprise!! Now I need to make him a nice meal. Comfort food with LOVE! It will be my pleasure to return him the favor with a lovely dinner! ❤ ❤ ❤
Thank you for visiting my smile this week. I am getting ready to go out and take care of my horses and wanted to get my smile post together to share!
Happy gardening smiles with a surprise!
~Diana ❤

I’m glad your gardening experiments are turning into gardening successes. Part of me wants to get into gardening more, but I wonder where I would find the time… Have a great week 🙂

I love the Quote: “There are no gardening mistakes, only experiments.”
Haha I’ve certainly conducted lots of experiments over the years. 🙂

Yes, I’m learning a lot about container gardening. For one thing the gophers can’t eat my veggies! Haha! And I think gardening is all about experimenting after I read that quote, I really love it too! 😃

True, true, I mean life is an experiment right? Haha, but it’s good to know I’m not alone with my experimenting! 🤣
AND in the cookbook she does feature a very big 3 tiered confetti cake which looks divine and she says is worth all the effort! Maybe I’ll have to make it and share!
I do have a creative artsy cupcake cookbook my daughter bought me some years ago. It was when cupcake wars was on food network and cupcake bakeries were all the rage here! There are so many designs you can make with cupcakes by pushing them together! Or extremely elaborate decorations for the top!!! Fun cookbooks to have, but never went crazy baking these artsy things! 😄

I love experimenting in the garden wether it be a large area or playing in a pot. Your little capsicums look so happy. Even the cook book looks cheery & fun, cooking shows are great arent they. I just finished watching a cooking comp with Heston in it cant remember the name but the whole garden was edible, (candy flowers, chocolate bark) it was just like a fairy tale, right up my alley. What a lovely Hubby, does that mean he will be cooking you something from the book, lol. Have a wonderfully bright & cheerie week just like the wonderful you & hug the ponies for me.

Amazing what you can do in just a container! The capsicums are going crazy after I mulched which Maria suggested they are just in heaven!! Haha, I’ve counted almost 20 in those 2 small plants. So FUN!! AND yes, cooking shows are so FUN and no hubby does cook but not from any cookbook. That will be me looking up some good recipes to try!! You are the sweetest and I’ll give the ponies a big hug for you!! ❤️
